On Thursday, Aug 9th we took the kids on a surprise trip. Chris had two days of vacation so we headed for the camp ground and then on to Altoona. Needless to say it rained almost the whole way there. We did not have a back up plan for the rain so we prayed really hard that it would stop. We arrived at Lakemont Park in Altoona and the rain slowed down and then it stopped. We enjoyed the water park and the amusement park rides for the whole day until about 5pm when it started to storm. At this point the kids had rode everything they wanted to and the lines were really short so they even rode some more than once. The picture is of the kids on the oldest roller coaster, it was really neat. The guy actually hand pushed it and up the hill you went, it had no track and it was the old wooden ones so it was rough. But fun!! This was an inexpensive park and a day of some much over due family fun. If you want to visit the web site it is www.lakemontparkfun.com and we highly recommend taking your own families. When I was a child my parents took us and I remembered lots of the visit after returning again.
