Here Brandon is resting on a bench under a tree at gate 5. Today was more like fair weather. Thursday evening we had some wind and a T-storm went through. It was enough to clear the grounds early. Today was a bit breezy but the sun was nice and an enjoyable day. We did only spend a few hours at the fair today because we had to go to the football game. That is some sad news we lost our first game to Mt Carmel tonight. But we will hold our heads high and be back next week to take another win!! Only one more day of fair.

Familiar Faces at the Fair
Here is a picture of Hewlett's stand at the fair. You all must know that I spoke to my brother and his request for a picture was of Geri Hewlett. So here you go Scott! She looks good for almost the end of the week. The other photo is of Mays BBQ, that is always another favorite of all of us. Another good day at the fair!!
George
Here are pictures of "George in the Can". George always dresses up in something and moves around in his can. He acts like he isn't real and then moves and startles people. This year he was the pirate. The kids always have there pictures taken with George every year, I then send it to him in his Christmas card. We even have pictures of the kids in their buggy with George. The fair brings out the best in everybody!
Favorites of the Fair
The first picture is of Mom and the kids getting an artic ice cream, (peanut butter). They are like a Hi - Ho, they taste wonderful! The next is Brandon's favorite milkshake place, Ague's Milkshakes, vanilla is his favorite! The steak burger trailer belongs to Gordy, and we have made many trips to that stand. We either enjoy the 1/3 burgers or the cheese steaks or french fries. Mmmmmmm!! Moving right along is Grottos Pizza that just fits nice in between the other food. One of Nicole's favorites is Kohrs Orangeade, custard or the juices. Thought we would share some of our favorites with everyone.

End of a Long Hot Day
Last night we enjoyed a 20 minute firework display. We watched the fireworks from Mom and Dads porch, and once in awhile we were able to enjoy a cool breeze. They were a really nice display. As you can see Brandon decided to watch the fireworks from inside. Well it is off to another day at the fair. I will keep you updated! Hope you are enjoying the fair through our eyes.
Entries at the Fair
Just wanted to show you some of the entries we entered this year in the fair. In the first picture if you look at the picture in the upper left hand corner of the soldier that is the one I entered. The second photo is of Nicole's ceramic she entered that took second place. The last photo is of Nicole's picture entree of our dog looking at the newspaper. Just thought you might enjoy seeing these. This was our first time to ever enter anything so we were proud. Next year we will have to see what they judge on.
For the Sweet Tooth at the Fair
Here is a picture of some friends stand The Browns, they have wonderful candy apples and carmel apples, cotton candy and popcorn. They also used to make the best carmel corn on the grounds(just ask Dad), but they have stopped making the carmel corn. We do get Dave to make a batch once in awhile. If you look really close you will see Brandon in the stand helping out a little. They were nice enough to allow him to get a taste of the working force. He WILL be getting a job next year, just to young this year with all the new laws out there. He has really enjoyed helping there the few hours this week.
Another Day at the Fair
We have been saying how hot it is well yesterday was the topper, it was 97 degrees. That just isn't fair weather. Well Scott here you go you can have a John the Greek gyro or a Hewletts sandwich. I guess we can call this calorie free food. As you can see the picture was taken on the main midway and the crowd was very small. We did get to enjoy visiting our good friends the Shaffers at the only shade on the grounds I think (Gross's french fry stand and sandwiches). They came up yesterday from Mechanicsburg for a day at the fair. It is always nice spending time with them. We did not stay long down at the fair since it was so hot we went back down last night about 6pm and stayed until 9 or so.

More of the fair
Here is a shot of the games along the midway and some of the rides. We did go see Ryan Pelton do his "Elvis" show. If you have never seen Ryan perform he is very close to the real thing and a very personable person. He does perform at a club in Myrtle Beach, SC, check out his website www.ryanpelton.com. We had to get our seat at 12:30 and the show started at 2:15, he draws a huge crowd. It is extremely hot again today and tomorrow isn't looking much better either. The humidity is really high too, so lots of snow cones and water. Lets see the same favorites to eat, Gordys burgers and fries, the mini orbit donuts and the milk shakes. Oh, and the pizza from Grottos and Mays ham BBQ's. Heaps wings are really good too. Chris has been working for Heaps 5am to 5pm and then walks around with us, it is nice he has vacation from Kawneer. Well it is almost time to head down for more food, the kids are feeling empty. More updates to come!!!!
The Bloomsburg Fair!!!!!!
We have been enjoying the fair with lots of food and lots of walking. We have seen many people we don't always get to see. Monday was senior citizen day and it was a hot one for them. I can always remember it being cold or rainy on senior citizen day, this year they had a good day. We went down today about 10:30am and we went and watched the horse races, Brandon really enjoys trying to guess the winner. As you can see we climbed to the top of the grandstand to sit. We watched a few races and then moved on.

First day of Fair
Wow!!! It sure was hot for the first day of fair. We did enjoy it though, haven't covered the whole thing yet so not really sure what is new there yet. We enjoyed the Gordy burgers for lunch and his fries and Oh yes the Ague milkshakes were a favorite as usual. Really needed those milkshakes and ice cream to beat the heat. We hit Mays walkaway sundaes and yes we had the mini orbit donuts. I think we had the most water consumed possible. Some stands had actually sold out of water, does that tell you how hot it was! The first day of fair and sold out of water that you planned on selling for the whole week. Well we entered some pictures Nicole and myself but unfortunately they did not take any places. Nicole did enter a ceramic she painted at the camp ground this summer and took 2nd place. Some of the prices have seem to jump but you can still find a bargain. I will take my camera and share the sights with everyone that can't see it first hand this year (Scott). Next year Bro!!!!! Scott you could leave Sun after church and stay until Wed., just a thought. I know you miss it!! I will attempt to update through out the week. Enjoy!!!!

Bloomsburg High School Marching Band is # 1
Well we had our first competition Saturday evening at Milton. The competition started at 6pm and Bloomsburg took the field at 8pm. In group one was Schuylkill Haven Band and Loyalsock Band. Loyalsock took first place in that group. Milton (hosting band), Line Mountain and Lewisburg performed as exhibition bands. In our group (Group 3) was Mifflinburg and Bloomsburg. Group 3 means that there is 56 to 80 band members in the band. Mifflinburg took best drum major, best percussion and auxiliary. Bloomsburg took first place over all!!!! I can tell you a little how they score the bands, for music they had a possible 60 points (individual music, ensemble music and general effect music), then also was visual which a total of 40 points could be scored. Bloomsburg ended with a score of 75.1 and Mifflinburg had a score of 71.6. It was a nice boost for the first competition, they really did an awesome job!! Brandon really enjoyed his first competition. His exact words were "Mom you could feel the enthusiasm of the band". I am really glad he is able to experience this wonderful adventure. Mom, Dad, Nicole, Grandma and Nana and Poppy were able to enjoy the show as well at the competition. Uncle Scott called just as they had finished playing, sorry we will record a show for you!! We knew you would be thinking about us, once a band member always a band member, it's in your blood. We all went to the camper afterwards for the rest of the weekend. It was a bit chilly but nice. Well only one week of school then off a week for the BIG Bloomsburg fair. I will have to take pictures for all of you unable to attend this year (Uncle Scott). We walked the fair grounds tonight (before dark) and they are really filling up. Well guess that is all for now! The football team had yet another win on Friday night which makes them 3 and 0. Wow a great football team and band, couldn't ask for more than that. Have a good week everyone!!!

Changes at the McCaffrey House
Lots has been happening here. First of all last Wednesday, I transferred from the Memorial School to the High School Life skill room. I LOVE it!!! I am now on the same schedule as the kids again. This will make it nice for those early band bus trips. I feel like I have the whole day left when I get done at 2:30pm. This also makes it nice for soccer games and practice, there is no rushing through meals. As for the two football games for Bloomsburg they have won both of them. The best one was the big victory over Southern last Friday, it was a shut out with a score of 19 to 0. The band is looking great, they have there first competition this Saturday. The other big news in our house is that Brandon and the girlfriend broke up. Brandon is doing really good with it. He is willing to be just friends, hopefully they can do just that. I have no doubts that there will be another knocking at the door in a matter of time. With band and soccer he has already had some double takes, and at the camp ground last weekend there was a few asking about his age and all. He is such a good looking kid!! I think he will be taking after his Uncle Scott and heading to more than one prom. I am starting to save my pennies now. The camping season is almost over. With the BIG Bloomsburg Fair coming up we won't be over much anymore. It is sad to see it come to an end. But at least things will get done around the house again. Well I guess that is all the news from the McCaffrey's. Everyone is doing well in school and liking it. I will let everyone know how the band does at the competition on Saturday.
